Find the needle system your machine accepts

Start with the machine manual and the system printed on the needle package. Check the point type and size after the system matches.

Read the complete system code

Look at the manual for your exact model. The 130/705 H system is common on home machines, while some older machines or overlock models specify another system. Match the full code. A flat shank alone does not establish fit.

Separate size from system

An 80/12 marking describes one nominal needle size using two scales. It does not describe the shank or tell you which machine takes the needle. If the box gives both a system code and a size, check the system first.

Use aliases with documentation

Some makers list 15×1 and 130/705 H together for household needles. Confirm that the alias appears on the exact needle or manufacturer documentation. Keep special systems separate if the manual names a different code.

Guide questions

Can I choose from the machine brand alone?

Check the exact model and its manual. A manufacturer can sell machines that use different systems.

Does 90/14 tell me whether it fits?

It describes nominal size. Match the system and then choose the size for the material and thread.

Can I use any needle with a flat side?

Check the full system, including any suffix the manual calls for. Shape alone does not establish fit.

Which accessory suits the job?

  1. These packs share the 80/12 nominal size. Choose the Universal 130/705 H or the EL×705 Serger pack by the complete code in the manual for your machine.
