Choosing microtex and sharp needles

Choose the point for a tight weave

For a fine or tightly woven fabric, compare needles with a documented sharp point. Test the fine and heavier sizes with the thread you intend to sew and inspect the seam on both faces.

Pick the size after you test

An assortment is useful when you switch between lightweight and coated wovens. A single-size pack makes sense once you know the combination that produces the seam you want.

Department questions

Does Sharp always mean Microtex?

Read the exact needle family and point description. Compare the model, size and documented system on the pack.

Can a sharp needle serve a stretch knit?

Consult the fabric and needle guides for a point intended for that knit, then test your actual seam.

Should I compare needles with different thread on the same first test?

Keep the thread and fabric fixed for the initial comparison, then test the final fabric and thread combination.
